Given,
f(x)=x+1x−1
Also given,
fn+1(x)=f(fn(x)) ..... (1)
∴ For n=1
f1+1(x)=f(f1(x))
⇒f2(x)=f(f(x))
=f(x+1x−1)
=x+1x−1+1x+1x−1−1
=x+1x−1+x+1x+1x−1−x−1
=2x−2
=−x1
From equation (1), when n = 2
f2+1(x)=f(f2(x))
⇒f3(x)=f(f2(x))
=f(−x1)
=−x1+1−x1−1
=x−1+xx−1−x
=−1+x−1−x=x−1−(x+1)
Similarly,
f4(x)=f(f3(x))
=f(x−1−x+1)
=x−1−(x+1)+1x−1−(x+1)−1
=x−1−x−1+x−1x−1−x−1−x+1
=−2−2x=x
∴ f5(x)=f(f4(x))
=f(x)
=x+1x−1
f6(x)=f(f5(x))
=f(x+1x−1)
=−x1 (Already calculated earlier)
f7(x)=f(f6(x))
=f(−x1)
=−x1+1−x1−1
=x−1−(x+1)
∴ f6(6)=−61
and f7(7)=7−1−(7+1)=−68
So, f6(6)+f7(7)
=−61−68
=−23
